On offer on this occasion is something definitely out-of-the-ordinary, it being a remarkably-rare Eileen Gray “Brick” Screen with, as you would expect, bronze shims, spacers and end-caps and, more-remarkably, 76 high-gloss, lacquered-panels in Black.

As you will no doubt be aware by your interest in this 1922-1925 designed masterpiece, Eileen Gray pieces are the epitome of modernist furniture design, are of peerless quality, and exhibit detailing and execution of an unrivalled standard and, in a world of temporary pleasures, Eileen Gray created beautiful furniture that remains a joy forever, and there can be few more-impressive examples of this timeless icon of design than this.

We recently acquired this spectacular piece from one of our private clients, who had a business located in the famous Liverpudlian landmark “The West Tower” for many years, and who believed this “Brick” Screen was purchased (along with numerous other high-value pieces) by the developer “The Beetham Organisation” (and Hugh Frost in particular) prior to the opening of the development in 2007. Past that, nothing is known of its origin or provenance, and no paperwork or documentation is present, so please consider and make-peace with this fact prior to making any offer or purchase.

This screen is in superb, well-maintained condition, reflecting the considerate employment it has seen in the past and, aside from some light, but visible marks and scratches to a limited number of its 76 lacquered-panels, is entirely free from fault, flaw or damage and functions precisely as-designed and expected.

Please view the images provided closely to confirm its incredible condition and appearance. Elegant in the extreme, and benefitting from being effectively over double-width, which only serves to increase its presence, personality and practicality.

Should near-perfection be preferred, we could organise for the issues regarding the lacquered panels to be professionally-addressed by our expert French-polisher prior to shipping upon the request of the buyer, with the (modest, i expect) costs of doing so being confirmed at the time, and being in addition to the purchase price.

The dimension of this screen is H-187cm, W-220cm and D-24cm and we have no doubt that it will serve and delight it’s new owner for many years to come.

With the current “ClassiCon” 28-Panel version currently on sale at Aram for £35,000, we have priced this to reflect its quality, condition and, more-particularly, its scale but, as ever, welcome any and all reasonable and realistic offers.
